Fiberforge wins Focus Open Gold design-award
The tape laying system Fiberforge by Dieffenbacher is the winner of this year's "Focus Open Gold" award of the Design Center Baden Württemberg.
The system, which was developed by Dieffenbacher in 2016, is used for the large-scale manufacture of locally reinforced thermoplastic lightweight components. As the fastest tape laying system in the world, it can produce more than one million components per year. The design concept of the Fiberforge was developed by Defortec.

"The Fiberforge tape laying technology is a generative production method used to produce component-specific preforms for lightweight construction at high speed and with resource-saving material efficiency,” said Matthias Graf, Director of Technology and Development at Dieffenbacher. “The design improves the speed of the Fiberforge, the straightness of the tape and the lightness of the components produced on it. It also forms a protective enclosure around the process and thereby accomplishes important functions. The operator no longer notices the rush of fast movements inside the machine, resulting in a calm sovereignty."
Stefan Grobe, managing director of Defortec, added: "For me, the Fiberforge is the perfect example of an intelligent combination of shape and high-tech function. You can literally sense its power and processing speed. This translates into extreme user satisfaction, which supports the Dieffenbacher brand."
The "Focus Open Gold" awards ceremony was held on October 13 during the opening of the exhibition in the Scala in Ludwigsburg. The jury awarded "Focus Gold" to 13 products and "Focus Silver" to 30 products. Another 26 products received the "Focus Special Mention." The Focus Open design award Baden-Württemberg, known far beyond the borders of the state for recognizing excellent design, is the only publicly sponsored state prize of the Federal Republic of Germany.
