Dieffenbacher PreformCenter live
The KraussMaffei Competence Forum 2011 is all about "modern and highly efficient machine technology", and it was in line with this principle that Dieffenbacher presented its latest technology in Munich – the PreformCenter for efficient manufacturing of dry, complex 3D preforms made from carbon fibers. The machine builder based in Eppingen, Germany, showed off this global innovation live as part of a comprehensively automated RTM production line for mass production.
Process reliability and economy are the challenges facing the manufacture of preforms made of carbon fibers. This is precisely what Dieffenbacher has demonstrated with its PreformCenter. The machine concept will appeal with its straightforward, modular construction. The entire process from the supply of the textile preform, precise trimming, application of the binder through to provision of the dry, 3D preform with a rigid shape is fully automated and has handling technology for a reliable process. Short cycle times can be achieved. At the same time, the PreformCenter can be configured for both small and large quantities, and is designed for flexible use in large and small-scale series production of tailor-made preforms.
