First LFT-D machine in China
Dieffenbacher is the first company to break into the Chinese market with LFT-D technology
Dieffenbacher has supplied a complete LFT-D line for the YDAM company in China. The heart of the LFT-D line is the Dieffenbacher Compress type DC 2100/1800 AS press with a controlled parallel motion system. It will be used for manufacturing automotive components to be used in the most demanding applications. With this line, Dieffenbacher has become the first company to establish ground-breaking LFT-D technology in China.
YDAM (Yaohua Dazhong Advanced Materials) has its headquarters in Shanghai, and is one of the leading companies in the Chinese composites industry. YDAM's customer portfolio includes companies such as VW Shanghai, GM China and Buick.
Direct compounding technology bypasses the cost-intensive semifinished part stage in the GMT process. The thermoplastic material is mixed together with the roving directly before pressing, and the compound is then moved directly to the forming press. This eliminates a large proportion of the logistical costs. In addition, not only overall energy consumption but also production costs are reduced significantly. The LFT-D process does not just offer economic benefits, however. It also contributes to significant technical improvements. The material composition can be adapted precisely and straightforwardly to meet different requirements, with the result that components can be manufactured with particularly good mechanical properties and outstanding surface quality. This is made possible by the dual-machine technology developed by Dieffenbacher (double-screw compounding extruder + double-screw device) which maintains the long fibers that are needed.
