Dieffenbacher 2010 Review of a successful business year

Eppingen, May 31, 2011 – Dieffenbacher a supplier of complete production lines with international activity and with headquarters in Eppingen, Germany has a worldwide net of sales-, technical support- and production centres. The company successfully went through the world financial crisis and is proud to report on a prosperous business year 2010.

The amount of incoming orders for our main Business Units Wood and Forming has been well above average and beyond our expectations. The total turnover was EURO 330 million resulting in pleasant company performance figures with increased operating margins, cash flow and equity figures compared to the preceding business year.

For the years from 2010 to 2012 a total investment program of more than EURO 50 million has been approved covering investments in new products, new manufacturing and research buildings and latest state of the art production equipment.

The demand for Dieffenbacher products has grown considerably during the last 12 months. The Business Unit Wood, representing Dieffenbacher as one of the worlds leading supplier of complete production lines for the wood based panel industry could enjoy an order intake of almost double compared to the preceding business period. We have been awarded with orders totalling over Euro 400 million. The Business Unit Forming also noted a significant increase of the demand situation. Compared to the preceding business periods incoming orders increased by more than 50 percent.

The consolidated total value of order intake amounts to close to EURO 500 million and total orders on hand for both Business Units represent approximately EURO 800 million. The workload resulting from these orders will keep all our group members busy throughout an important part of the business year 2012.

In 2009 Dieffenbacher has taken the majority shares of the affiliate Shanghai Wood Based Panel Machinery (SWPM) company, the largest supplier of production systems for the wood based panel industry in China. Development of the business has been very enjoyable with positive results. Incoming orders and order backlog have significantly exceeded our expectations. Start-up of the first 4-ft-production lines supplied by SWPM has been smooth and on schedule.

The Business Unit Forming has focused during the last years on new development and improvement of products and processes, specifically in the field of carbon- and glass fibre reinforced plastics composites.

The Business Unit Wood also has successfully introduced new developments into the market, e.g. turnkey energy generation systems, glue saving system components and new processes for raw material preparation, offering very attractive cost savings to our customers.

Investments in new equipment, products and processes and a solid order backlog have brought Dieffenbacher into an excellent starting position for the future, justifying the expectation of further growing turnover and performance figures for the business year 2011.
